SLAM's first Talent Showcase!

MIAMI (Jan. 27, 2023) – Several thousand students, teachers, and family members spanning four states tuned in for SLAM Foundation’s talent show marking National School Choice Week 2023. Hosted by students for students, the show streamed live from our SLAM Miami campus. The event featured live performances and incorporated video submissions from kindergartners through seniors across SLAM’s ten campuses. The submissions were gathered through a contest that asked students to creatively express — such as through music, dance, rap, or poetry — why they choose SLAM. Over 200 students participated in the live event in Miami, with more than 10,000 students, staff, and family members nationwide watching via live stream.

The showcase featured submissions from SLAM students in Arizona, Florida, Nevada, and Georgia, and revealed one lucky winner. The winner of the video contest was SLAM Boca, who took home a $500 award for a School Choice Week party at their school. The winners of the live talent portion included singer, Brianna Lamounier and pianist Caio Souza from SLAM Boca. The duo performed “Skyfall” by Adele. SLAM Miami’s Sirens dance team tied talent competition. Each group took home another $500 prize thanks to support from the National School Choice Week Awareness Foundation.
