MIAMI, FL — April 1, 2025 — SLAM is continuing its mission to prepare students for life beyond graduation by connecting them with real-world industries—and few are more dynamic than professional motorsports. Through an expanding partnership with NASCAR, students recently gained firsthand exposure to the business, media, and career pathways behind one of America’s most watched sports.
During the NASCAR race weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway (March 21–23), students from SLAM Boca Raton were invited to participate in a behind-the-scenes experience. From touring the media center to engaging directly with professionals in branding, marketing, and entertainment, students were immersed in the strategy and scale of a national race weekend. They also had the opportunity to meet NASCAR Cup Series driver Bubba Wallace and NFL star Alvin Kamara.
“Going to the NASCAR event was an unforgettable experience—not only did I get to go backstage and stand just feet away from the track, but I also had the chance to meet professionals in social media, marketing, broadcasting, and journalism,” said Kyle M., a SLAM student. “Speaking with people who are thriving in the careers I’m passionate about was incredibly inspiring. I walked away with valuable advice and key takeaways that I know will shape my future in the industry.”
Just days prior, Daniel Suárez—driver of the No. 99 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet and the first Mexican-born driver to win a NASCAR Cup Series race—visited SLAM Radio, SLAM’s student-run, nationally broadcast SiriusXM channel (Channel 145). In a live on-air interview, Suárez shared his story of breaking into the sport, offering a simple but powerful message to students:
“You have to be hungry… If you work hard, you have a good chance.”
“Attending the NASCAR experience was truly enjoyable,” said Johanna Corporan, an administrator at SLAM Boca. “Our students had the opportunity to engage with professionals across various media and marketing fields, giving them firsthand insight into the roles and careers they are studying in their academies.”
From media production to brand storytelling to race-day operations, students were exposed to the wide array of careers that keep the motorsports industry moving. For many, the event was a spark.
“I got to learn a lot about my dream job and meet a lot of cool people,” said Niko P., a SLAM student. “10 out of 10 experience—looking forward to doing it again soon,” added Aiden R.
This partnership is part of SLAM’s broader commitment to experiential learning. By placing students in real-world environments alongside professionals who are shaping industries, SLAM equips its students with exposure, confidence, and a clear sense of possibility.
SLAM’s ongoing partnership with NASCAR continues to bridge classroom learning with real-world exposure—giving students access to industries, professionals, and experiences that build skills, spark ambition, and unlock future pathways.
