The SLAM Foundation is proud to celebrate a historic achievement at SLAM Tampa. For the first time in the school’s history, a middle school student has been selected as a Jack Kent Cooke Young Scholar—one of the most prestigious academic scholarships in the nation.
We congratulate Naomi Colon (8th grade) on this incredible honor. Out of more than 1,000 exceptionally talented students who applied nationwide, Naomi is among only 65 students selected for this highly competitive program.
The Jack Kent Cooke Young Scholars Program provides high-performing students with individualized academic guidance, financial support, and enrichment opportunities from 8th grade through high school, preparing them for future success in college and beyond.
This achievement would not have been possible without the dedication and guidance of SLAM Tampa educators. A special thank you goes out to Mr. Mreczko and Ms. Guzman Perez, who worked tirelessly alongside school leadership to support Naomi throughout the application process.
Congratulations, Naomi, on this extraordinary achievement. You have made SLAM Tampa history, and your SLAM family could not be more proud.
